WELCOME!
St. Therese Catholic Church, as a happy faith community, welcomes you with joyful hearts to our church. Celebrate the gift of the Eucharist with us, whether newly arrived or longtime registered.
If you are not registered and want to belong to this happy family of worshipers, please stop after Mass by the church hall or the parish office to pick up a registration form or call us at: (865) 457-4073.
OCTOBER CALENDAR: Click here to keep track of all the events going on this month.
FIRST WEEKEND FELLOWSHIP: There will be no First Weekend Fellowship for Oct. 5 and 6 due to lack of hosts. Host families are needed for November. Saturday night hosts are responsible for drinks only, and Sunday hosts are now providing drinks and doughnuts. All hosts will be reimbursed if they submit their receipts to the office. Please consider volunteering so we can get together and eat!
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Religious education classes for regular CCD and Confirmation have begun! They are 9:30-10:45 a.m Sundays. Please meet in the parish hall. REMINDER: There will be no Sunday School on Oct. 6 because of Fall Break.
VIRTUS: Our last Virtus training for this year will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23. If you have not had your Virtus training yet, please plan to attend this meeting. If you are an usher, lector, Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion, teacher, musician – you need to have this training. Please plan to attend and sign up. The diocese wants everyone to have this training.
HELP SOCIAL ACTION: The Social Action Committee is collecting baby items, food, and personal products for the needy in Anderson County. We are also starting to collect for the Thanksgiving holiday, so if you have any non-perishable food items, they are much appreciated. Donations can be placed in the boxes in the parish hall.
RUMMAGE AND BAKE SALE: We thank all who donated and all who shopped! Another successful fall sale is in the books.
RCIA: Have you been worshiping with us but never took the step to become Catholic? Were you baptized as a child but never received the other Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist and Confirmation)? Have you been practicing another religion and would now like to find out more about the Catholic Church? Do you know family and friends who may be interested? St. Therese will begin the RCIA program in September. It is a journey of faith aimed at welcoming adults into our Catholic family. If you would like more information or would like to attend these sessions, please contact David or Linda McCune at 865-457-5015, or call the office at 865-457-4073.
FOURTH QUARTER MINISTRIES: If you are a Eucharistic minister of Holy Communion, a lector, an usher, or a server, click here to download or print the ministry list for October, November, and December dates. You can always find this list by clicking on Mass Schedule above and then clicking Ministers’ Schedule. Remember that if you cannot make your scheduled date, please find a replacement.
PRAY THE ROSARY: All are welcome to join us praying the rosary before Mass on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. and the first and third Sundays of each month at 10:30 a.m.
SPIRITUAL ADOPTION: St. Therese will be participating in this Pro-Life program in which participants pledge to pray for nine months for a baby in danger of abortion. During each month of the program, the “spiritual parents” are given information about their baby’s development in the womb. While this child will remain unknown to his or her ‘spiritual parent’, God knows who the child is. Many people have found that naming ‘their child’ helps to keep them focused on the reality that their prayers are helping to save a particular baby from the harm of abortion. While it is not always possible to see the particular effects of prayer, we know through Scripture that God wants us to pray, and we know by faith that He answers all prayers.
CALLING ALL VOICES: If you feel called to participate musically in church (cantor, instrument, etc.) please contact Mary Tuskan at the number listed on the inside front page of the bulletin. The choir is always looking for new members!
AMAZON SMILE: AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to St. Therese. To do this, simply click here or enter this website address into your search bar: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/62-1330400. Every item available for purchase on www.amazon.com is also available on AmazonSmile at smile.amazon.com. You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages.
MASS INTENTIONS: There are dates available for Mass intentions throughout the fall of 2019. Call now or stop by the office to request a specific date.
FIRST WEEKEND FELLOWSHIP: The sign-up sheet for First Weekend Fellowship is up on the wall next to the kitchen. Host families or groups set up drinks and food, and help clean up after the event. This is a fun and easy way to support your parish, and all expenses are reimbursed.
BULLETIN ADVERTISING: The parish bulletin currently has space available for three advertisements. If you have a business or know of someone who has a business that they would like to advertise in our bulletin, have them stop by the parish office for pricing or call 457-4073.
