If you are not registered and want to belong to this happy family of worshipers, please stop after Mass by the church hall or the parish office to pick up a registration form or call us at:  (865) 457-4073.

CCW POTLUCK: All St. Therese ladies are invited to come and meet our new board members and enjoy an evening with friends 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17. Bring a dish to share if you are able. We look forward to seeing you there!

HELP SOCIAL ACTION: The Social Action Committee is collecting baby items, food, and personal products for the needy in Anderson County.  Donations are appreciated and can be placed in the boxes in the parish hall.

RUMMAGE AND BAKE SALE: It’s time to clean out those closets! CCW’s annual rummage and bake sale will be Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28. Donations are gratefully accepted and may be stored in the back room in the parish hall. Set-up dates are Wednesday, Sept 25., and Thursday, Sept 26.  Sign up sheets will be available in the parish hall if you are able to help in any way.

YOUTH GROUP NEWS: HOYST (Holy Oasis Youth of St. Therese) is back in session! We will kick off the school year with a boating event 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22. We will meet and board the boat after a brief safety orientation and spend the afternoon tubing and swimming. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Contact Melissa Brown to ensure your youth age child (any confirmed 7th-12th grader) has a spot on the boat! Melissa’s information is in the bulletin.

RCIA: Have you been worshiping with us but never took the step to become Catholic? Were you baptized as a child but never received the other Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist and Confirmation)? Have you been practicing another religion and would now like to find out more about the Catholic Church? Do you know family and friends who may be interested?    St. Therese will begin the RCIA program in September. It is a journey of faith aimed at welcoming adults into our Catholic family. If you would like more information or would like to attend these sessions, please contact David or Linda McCune at 865-457-5015, or call the office at 865-457-4073.

PARISH DIRECTORY UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who had their photos taken for the 2018-19 section of our in-house parish directory. This year’s insert for the white binder will be coming the first of September. Make sure to pick up your section when it arrives!

WALK FOR LIFE: Help take a stand for life and celebrate what God is doing at Choices Resource Center. The annual Walk for Life begins 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Melton Lake Greenway in Oak Ridge. This walk helps the center serve men and women facing unplanned pregnancies and other related issues. We would like to invite all to participate in this simple two-mile course that only takes about an hour, but the difference you make lasts a lifetime. Pledge forms are included in the bulletin, or you can sponsor our parishioner by signing the form in the parish hall. Please contact the office for more information.

GOING ON VACATION? If you’re headed out of town, check out masstimes.org or catholicmasstime.org to find a daily or weekend Mass time near your vacation spot. Both sites make it easy to search for a church no matter where you are!

THIRD QUARTER MINISTRIES: If you are a Eucharistic minister of Holy Communion, a lector, an usher, or a server, click here to download or print the ministry list for July, August, and September dates. You can always find this list by clicking on Mass Schedule above and then clicking Ministers’ Schedule. Remember that if you cannot make your scheduled date, please find a replacement.

PRAY THE ROSARY: All are welcome to join us praying the rosary before Mass on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. and the first and third Sundays of each month at 10:30 a.m.

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION: St. Therese will be participating in this Pro-Life program in which participants pledge to pray for nine months for a baby in danger of abortion. During each month of the program, the “spiritual parents” are given information about their baby’s development in the womb. While this child will remain unknown to his or her ‘spiritual parent’, God knows who the child is.  Many people have found that naming ‘their child’ helps to keep them focused on the reality that their prayers are helping to save a particular baby from the harm of abortion. While it is not always possible to see the particular effects of prayer, we know through Scripture that God wants us to pray, and we know by faith that He answers all prayers.

CALLING ALL VOICES: If you feel called to participate musically in church (cantor, instrument, etc.) please contact Mary Tuskan at the number listed on the inside front page of the bulletin. The choir is always looking for new members!

AMAZON SMILE: AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to St. Therese. To do this, simply click here or enter this website address into your search bar: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/62-1330400. Every item available for purchase on www.amazon.com is also available on AmazonSmile at smile.amazon.com. You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages.

MASS INTENTIONS: There are dates available for Mass intentions throughout the fall of 2019.  Call now or stop by the office to request a specific date.

FIRST WEEKEND FELLOWSHIP: The sign-up sheet for First Weekend Fellowship is up on the wall next to the kitchen. Host families or groups set up drinks and food, and help clean up after the event. This is a fun and easy way to support your parish, and all expenses are reimbursed.

BULLETIN ADVERTISING: The parish bulletin currently has space available for three advertisements. If you have a business or know of someone who has a business that they would like to advertise in our bulletin, have them stop by the parish office for pricing or call 457-4073.

BIBLE STUDY: This group meets at 10 a.m. Tuesdays in the parish hall beginning at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8. Anyone is welcome, and all are invited to join this group to discuss weekly topics.

SCRIPTURE PROGRAM: All are invited to attend the Scripture Program, which meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the parish hall (and continues throughout the summer months). This weekly program on Thursday nights is open to everyone. Participants will read the upcoming Sunday readings and then have some discussion questions afterward. A sign-up sheet is in the parish hall. For more information, contact Pete or Jean Chiaro.

ADORATION: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is 9:30 a.m. every Friday after the 8:30 a.m. daily Mass.

SOCIAL ACTION: On the second Monday of every month, several local restaurants will donate a portion of their sales to support Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC). Launched in 2013, “Dine and Donate” is a year-long event, with different restaurant participants each month.

FOOD CITY GIFT CARDS: Be sure to use these gift cards when shopping and purchasing gas. They make great gift ideas as well. They can be purchased after every Mass on Saturday and Sunday. They are also available 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the parish office.
